Two men arrested after drunken crash

MEADOW LAKES — A pair of military base residents were jailed Sunday after Alaska State Troopers say they wound up in a ditch after fleeing an accident scene.

According to an AST press statement, the incident was first reported at 6:15 a.m. on Basie Point Circle, a road in the neighborhoods near Pittman Road.

“Troopers arrived in the area at approximately (6:17 a.m.) and contacted the suspect vehicle, which had become stuck off the roadway. Upon contact with the vehicle both occupants fled on foot and were subsequently apprehended,” the press release states.

The two men were identified as Wayne Parker, 21, of Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson and Christopher Crawford, 21, also of JBER.

Parker was pegged as the driver. He was arrested for drunken driving. Crawford, troopers allege, was also drunk and in possession of a handgun. They added those two facts up to a weapons misconduct charge and arrested him as well.

Both were jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. Bail for Crawford was set at $1,000. For Parker: $500. Both had made bail and been released as of Monday afternoon.
