GLENNALLEN — Allen Moore continued his tear in the Copper Basin 300, earning another title Monday.
The Two Rivers musher hit the finish line in Glennallen at 11:22 a.m. to claim his fourth Copper Basin title. He’s also a past runner-up in the race, which starts in Glennallen and leads teams through checkpoints such as Red Eagle Lodge, Paxson Lodge, Sourdough Creek, Lake Louise Lodge and the Tolsona Lake Resort before the finish back in Glennallen.
Gerry Willomitzer and Jake Berkowitz also finished before noon Monday to place second and third respectively in the race. The top three finishers each ended the race with 11 dogs.
Fourth-place Nicholas Petit followed his nine dogs into Glennallen and crossed the finish line at 1:40 p.m., nine minutes ahead of fifth-place Marcus Ingebretsen.
Moore’s title netted him $6,000 of the race purse. Willomitzer will take $4,500 back to his home in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, Canada. Berkowitz earned $3,000 and Petit netted $1,500.
