WILLOW — Judy Currier won the Don Bowers 200 Sled Dog Race earlier this week.
The Two Rivers musher hit the finish line in Willow at 9:29 p.m. Sunday to win the annual race that leads teams from Willow to May’s Cabin and back.
Currier finished the 200-mile race in 1 day, 9 hours and 27 minutes.
Willow’s Matt Hayashida was the runner-up in the event. Hayashida cross the finish line at 10:23 p.m. to log a total time of 1:10:21 in the event.
Talkeetna’s Varan Hoyt finished third in the event. Wayne Curits edged fellow Wasilla musher Joe Holod to place fifth.
Sue Allen, also of Wasilla, finished seventh in the event. The Don Bowers 300 was cancelled this year due to lack of participation.
