Two weeks later, Wasilla teen is still missing

WASILLA — It's been almost two weeks now and Shawn Lyle hasn't found her missing daughter Pearl.

Pearl Lyle, 16, left the family's home on Knik-Goose Bay Road early in the morning Jan. 5. A car picked her up outside.

Since then, Shawn Lyle said, Pearl's family and friends have been doing everything they can to figure out where she went. Pearl is a special needs child. Her mother described her as physically 16 years old but mentally 12 years old.

"There's a lot of people that we know that are looking at this and that. But we're just trying to hold up," Shawn Lyle said Tuesday afternoon. "Just taking it day to day."

Alaska State Troopers have gotten involved and are seeking information, a trooper spokeswoman confirmed shortly after Pearl went missing.

Lyle said she hasn't heard a whole lot from the troopers but she thinks they've been tracking down leads and, she said, they're doing a good job.

"I know they're doing what they can," she said.

Pearl is 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 118 pounds. She wrestled for Wasilla High School. Anyone with information is asked to call troopers at 745-2131.
