Two women were found dead in the Trapper Creek area following an investigation by Alaska State Troopers.

30-year-old Fairbanks resident Sunday Powers was reported missing to the Alaska State Troopers May 24, 2023

Sunday made a 911 phone call prior to her disappearance which ultimately factored into Trooper's decision to deem the situation as suspicious.

AST and Alaska Bureau of Investigation immediately engaged in search efforts along the Parks Highway since that was where Sunday was believed to be traveling.

Troopers discovered two deceased women in Sunday's vehicle in the Trapper Creek area Friday, June 2.

The departed were identified as Sunday Powers and 34-year-old Anchorage resident Kami Clark.

Investigators suspect the two women were murdered based on evidence found at the scene.

Local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies are working together to investigate Sunday and Kami's murder.

Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact AST at 907-352-5401. Those who wish to remain anonymous can submit tips through the AKTrips application or through the AST website at dps.alaska.gov/ast/tips.
