Understand today’s events by looking to past

Winston Churchill said, “The farther back in history a person can see, the farther ahead in the future he can see.”

The Bible is the story of two cities — Jerusalem and Babylon. To understand the present events in America we must look back to Genesis 11. Genesis 11 is the first mention of the Tower of Babel and the city of Babylon. The devil in Genesis 11 initiated a new program to be king of the Earth and to receive the worship of men. Satan raised up a man named Nimrod.

“He was a mighty hunter before the Lord” (Genesis 10:9). He was a hunter of the souls of men. His name means “revolt.” He led men and women in revolt against God. Nimrod was the prime mover in the building of the Tower of Babel. Its purpose was to establish a one-world religion centered around the worship of the sun and moon. This new religion was pagan and idolatrous in nature. It stood in opposition to God. Their goal was to build a “tower unto heaven” (Genesis 11:4). The purpose of the tower was a one-world religion.

Nimrod was also the prime mover in the building of the city of Babylon. The Tower of Babel was designed to establish a centralized one-world religion. The city of Babylon was designed to establish a centralized one-world government. Both the Tower of Babylon and Babylon were initiated by Satan to oppose the person, worship and rule of God upon the earth.

God saw what men were doing. He understood their intentions. The Lord replied, “Come, let Us go down there and confuse their language; that they may not understand one another’s speech” (Genesis 11:7). God confounded their language so they could not function in unity. He scattered them upon the face of the earth. The damage, however, was already done. As people scattered to begin new nations, they took with them the virus imbedded in the plan of a one-world religion and a one-world government — in direct opposition to the purposes of the God who created them.

Today we look with shock and amazement at the tremendous changes taking place in the United States of America. Many and countless changes, some visible and many invisible, are now taking place in our nation. There is one word to describe what is behind most of the major world events now exploding before our eyes. That word is “globalism.”

Satan, using a small cadre of men in very high places in government, finance, media, communications, academia and entertainment, is influencing the world toward two primary objectives. One is political and the other is religious. Satan desires a one world government. Satan also desires a one world religion. He desires to rule the world through his progeny- the Antichrist- and receive the worship of mankind. It is an attempt to come full circle and bring men back to Babylon and Nimrod, in opposition to Jerusalem and Abraham. Nimrod, servant of Satan, built the Tower of Babel in an attempt to build a one-world religion. He built the city of Babylon to establish a one-world government.

Many things happening at the present hour of history, not by accident or the natural order of things, are accelerating the rush toward a one-world government and a one-world religion under the dictatorship of the Antichrist.

Terrorism and rogue nations are leading men toward the establishment of a one-world government. Globalism is increasingly being seen as the only way to counter the danger to world peace and stability. The threat of global warming, whether real or, far more likely, manufactured for political purposes, is leading men toward establishing a one-world government. Proponents of global warming say that all nations must be on board to stop this grave threat to humanity. They suggest that there must be international oversight to solve this problem.

The need for equity and stability in the distribution and cost of energy sources is leading toward the establishment of a one-world government. The dramatic shrinking of the earth through computerization, telecommunications and transportation is leading people toward the establishment of a one-world government.

The worldwide economic crisis now being experienced as a result of corruption and greed is leading toward the establishment of a one-world government. The economics of the world are intertwined. If America catches a cold, the rest of the world catches pneumonia. The president of the United Nations recently said, “There is a growing recognition that the turmoil in the financial system cannot be solved through the piecemeal responses at the national and regional level but requires a coordinated effort at the global level.”

America’s tragic moral decline over the last 30 or 40 years is leading men toward the establishment of a one-world government. A democracy requires a minimum level of morality by its citizens to work. We have fallen far below that level. We are now ready to accommodate the compromises a one-world government will require- even at the loss of our freedoms. No greater testimony of this fact exists than our recent presidential election. Truth never limps. If it needs crutches, it’s a lie. Our election was largely about lies.

The growing ecumenical movement by many of the world’s religions is leading men toward the establishment of a one world government. It is tragic that many evangelical leaders have supported this anti-God, anti-Christian movement.

Thankfully, shortly after the events of Genesis 11 God stepped into history through a man named Abraham. God brought into existence a new nation- Israel. God brought Israel into existence not for Israel alone but that through her seed (Jesus) the Gentile nations of the world could be delivered from pagan idolatry and the kingdom of Satan. My friend, dark days are coming. The ultimate victory belongs to Jesus. Won’t you follow him today?
