Matthew Friese enjoyed a nice start to the 2010-11 United States Hockey League season. The former Wasilla High School standout and Alaska Avalanche forward who skates for the USHL’s Tri-City Storm scored a power-play goal during Tri-City’s 5-3 exhibition loss to Omaha Friday.
Friese scored with the advantage 40 seconds into the third period to bring his squad with two goals. Friese was fairly active, judging by the scoresheet. He was credited with 11 shots.
Friese and the Storm hit the ice again Thursday for an exhibition match against the Lincoln Stars. Friese will recognize at least one member of the Stars, forward Jared Hanson, a former Palmer standout.
