The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has resources available to ensure natural disasters do not make the already challenging situation of owing a VA debt that much worse. If you are experiencing financial hardship and are unable to repay your VA debt because of a natural disaster, relief options are available.
Temporary suspensions
For suspension of benefit debt, Veterans and beneficiaries can contact the VA Debt Management Center via ‘Ask VA’ at www.ask.va.gov (select Veterans Affairs-Debt as the category) or call 800-827-0648.
If you need to suspend medical care and pharmacy copayment debt, Veterans and beneficiaries can contact the Health Resource Center by calling 866-400-1238.
