PALMER — Gabe Vestri recorded a pair of top-3 finishes to lead Valley athletes during the Bartlett/Chugiak Invitational swimming and diving meet in Anchorage last weekend.
Vestri finished second in the 50-yard freestyle and third in the 100 freestyle finals. Vestri, a foreign exchange student from Italy, broke a school record in the 50 freestyle, with his mark of 22.04 seconds.
Vestri also helped the Knights finish second in the boys’ 400 freestyle relay. Vestri, Ryan Chastain, Terrell Germain and Konnor Kolberg combined to post a time of 3:36.13.
Camille Dayton led the Colony girls with a second-place finish in the 200 individual medley. Dayton, Alexis Mattson, Kendyl Laughlin and Sarah Crosley combined to finish third in the girls’ 400 freestyle relay.
The Wasilla boys finished third in the 200 medley relay. Camren Hancock, Miles Laughlin, Jonathan Cowin and Teddy Fussell finished with a time of 1:49.10.
