PALMER — A handful of Valley swimmers have qualified for the ASAA/First National Bank State Swimming and Diving Championships, which start Friday at Bartlett High School in Anchorage.

Four Colony Knights swimmers used their performances in last week’s Region III Championships in Homer to qualify for the state event. Three of the four qualified in multiple events.

Alex Kessler, who won a Region III title in the 100-yard breaststroke, qualified for that event and the 200 freestyle. Zach Bloom will participate in the 100 backstroke and 500 freestyle. Zane Mileur is slated to compete in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly. Joseph Anderson qualified in the 100 breaststroke.

The four swimmers helped Colony finished third in the boys standings at the Region III meet.

Three swimmers on the Palmer girls squad qualified in individual events. Noelle Graham won a region title in the 100 butterfly, and also qualified for state in the 100 breaststroke. Naomi Graham and Katie Stark qualified in both the 50 and 100 freestyle races.

Stark, Naomi Graham, Noelle Graham and Sarah Hanson and four alternates qualified for state in the 200 and 400 freestyle relay races.

Daniel Jackson will represent the Palmer boys and race in the 50 freestyle.
