MAT-SU — Five Valley seniors are headed to Fairbanks to compete in the 12th Annual Alaska International Senior Games in Fairbanks Aug. 8-17.
Spokesperson for the games, Diann Darnall, said the 367 athletes in this year’s games will compete for qualifying spots for the National Senior Games in Minneapolis, Minnesota in July 2015.
Representing the Mat-Su Borough in the games are:
• Robert Frost of Palmer, Track and Field
• Jane Soeten of Wasilla, Basketball 3-on-3, Bocce, Racquetball, Track and Field
• John Miller of Wasilla, Racquetball
• Vince Mee of Wasilla, Golf
• Jeff Keuler of Wasilla, Racquetball
Darnall said a record number of athletes from Canada, Germany, Washington, Oregon, California, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Nebraska, Alabama, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, and Florida will compete in 65 events in 20 sports.
