Valley athletes win events at Colony Invite track and field meet

Athletes from across the Mat-Su earned individual wins during the Colony Invitational track and field meet over the weekend at Colony High School.

Trevor Jamison led the Colony boys with a pair of wins. Jamison was first in the high jump with a mark of 5 feet, 10 inches. He won the trip jump at 42-8.

Colony’s Ben Holladay and Andrew Richardson swept the boys throwing events. Richardson used a personal best of 142 feet, 4 inches to win the distance. Holladay was first in the shot put at 45-1.

Tobias Buchanan was also first in the 3,200 meters, with a time of 10 minutes, 9.94 seconds.

Mark DeArmond led Wasilla with a pair of wins in the boys sprints. DeArmon won both the 100 (11.62) and 200 (23.90)

Brayden Licht finished first in the 400 with a time of 54.15 to lead the Palmer boys.

Cayman Kingery won the boys 300 hurdles for the Susitna Valley boys with a time of 44.18.

Ella Hopkins led the Colony girls with a pair of wins. Hopkins was first in the 800 (2:31.75) and 1,600 (5:32). Aubrey Virgin was first in the 3,200 for the Knights with a personal best time of 12:25.33.

Leila Petersen and Avery Johnson won individual events for the Palmer girls. Petersen was first in the 400 (1:011.00) and Johnson was first in the high jump (4-10).

Sophia Dickson led Houston with a win in the long jump and distance of 14-11.50.

Buchanan (800), Kenton Phelps (shot put), Ethan McNulty (discus) and Nick Bailey (long jump) finished second; and Zachery Brenda (100), Willem Erickson (400), Trygve Vang-Thompson (3,200), London Ramirez (110 hurdles), Nolan Thaler (shot put), Phelps (discus) and Kenneth Motton (triple jump) were third for the Colony boys.

Kemuel Rodriguez (300 hurdles) was second, and Stephen Hafen (800 and 1,600) placed third for the Wasilla boys.

Tobias Bailey was second in the 100 hurdles for the Palmer boys. Su Valley’s Austin Barnard was second in the boys high jump.

Virgin (1,600), Sydney Simpich (800) and Audie Fischer (discus) were second; and Virgin (300 hurdles), Annelise Larsen (400), Maria Belliston (800), Malia Matthews (high jump) and Caroline Mitchell (long jump) were third for the Colony girls.

Karley Tichenor (3,200) was also second; and Tichenor (1,600), Petersen (200) and Kynedi Clark (100 hurdles) placed third for the Palmer girls.

Alexia Pike was third in the discus to lead the Redington girls and Caelynn Carter was third in the 100 for the Wasilla girls.

Jessie Wentworth (high jump) was second and Calla Fish (3,200) was third for the Su Valley girls.
