A handful of Valley athletes earned titles during the Region III Championships Sept. 25-27 at the Alaska Club in Anchorage.
The Colony Knights win a pair of doubles events. Colony’s Merissa Loggins and Noah Whitney finished first in the mixed doubles. Owen Dietz and Matthew Crawford were first for the Knights in the boys doubles.
Wasilla won the girls doubles with the team of Rylee Harris and Maggie Sheveland.
Palmer’s Shyla Phillips won the girls singles title.
Wasilla athletes were second in a pair of doubles events. Livia Breshears and Eli Cox were second in the mixed doubles, and Rome Breshears and Ethan Hoyt placed second in the boys doubles. Claire Bredberg was second in the girls singles for Wasilla.
The All-Region III teams were also announced. Loggins, Bredber, Phillps and Palmer’s Abby Pettit were named all-region for the girls, and Cox, Breshears and Dietz were named all-conference for the boys.
Wasilla’s Jennifer Anderson was named the Region III Coach of the Year.
The ASAA/First National Bank State Tennis Championships are scheduled for Oct. 5-7 at the Alaska Club in Anchorage.
