Valley athletes win titles on first day of NLC Championships

PALMER — Wasilla senior John Knowles heaved the shot put 50 feet and 11 inches to win the event during the first day of the Northern Lights Conference Championships track and field meet at Palmer High School on Friday.

Palmer junior Jim McCall was the lone athlete to top the 20-foot mark, en route to winning the boys' long jump. Wasilla freshman Dejanae Harris scored a win in the girls' long jump.
