Valley basketball players compete in senior all-star games

A handful of Mat-Su players participated in the annual Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches Senior All-Star Games Saturday at Grace Christian School in Anchorage.

Susitna Valley’s Alana Barron finished with a double-double for Team Gold in the 1A/2A girls game. Barron recorded 15 points and 11 rebounds, both team highs, for Team Gold in a 42-39 loss to Team Blue.

Colony’s Lalaine Suaava and Emma Hopkins played in the 3A/4A girls game. Suaava finished with seven points for Team Blue and Hopkins scored two for Team Gold. Team Gold beat Team Blue 90-83.

Wasilla’s Parker Kroon and Houston’s Cole Taylor and Hayden Howard played in the 3A/4A boys game. Kroon finished with 10 for Team Gold and Taylor added three. Howard scored two points for Team Blue. Team Blue edged Team Gold 103-101.
