Valley basketball squads grab wins

PALMER — The Colony Knights continued to cruise in Northern Lights Conference play, scoring a 60-33 boys’ basketball win over the Soldotna Stars Friday night at Colony High School.

Patrick McMahon led Colony with 16 points in the victory. Colton Spencer added 15 in the win. Spencer hit two of Colony’s five three-pointers in the win. Aiden Hall also hit a pair of threes.

Earlier in the day, the Colony girls held on to beat Soldotna 40-33.

Palmer girls earn their first NLC victory of the season

Palmer earned its first Northern Lights Conference girls win of the season, beating Kodiak 65-46 Friday night at Palmer High School.

Catherine Uschmann led Palmer with 18 points, and hit a pair of three-pointers. Olivia Lundin added nine and Danielle Umberger chipped in eight.

Redington girls score first win at Homer

The Redington girls used a 45-38 win over Homer Friday night to score their first victory over the Mariners at Homer High.

Abbie Fuller led Redington with 16 points. Lexi Seymore added 13.

Wasilla boys beat Service

A pair of brothers led the Wasilla Warriors to a 58-47 nonconference win over Service Thursday night at Wasilla High School

Andrew Devine and Luke Devine combined for 41 of Wasilla’s 58 points in the game. Andrew Devine, a junior, scored a game-high 25. Luke, a senior, added 16. The brothers combined for 15 of Wasilla’s 18 third-quarter points.

The Wasilla defense didn’t allow Service to score during the second quarter. The 10-0 second-quarter run gave the Warriors a 23-10 halftime lead.

Soldotna boys get past Hawks

Soldotna used a 23-4 third-quarter run to earn a 64-36 nonconference win over Houston Thursday night at Houston High.

Kyle McLaughlin led Houston with 13 points and six rebounds. Braden Cork added a dozen for the Hawks.
