WASILLA — Powered by a pair of 18-point performances, the Wasilla Warriors bounced back to grab a win during the second day of the Under Armour Holiday Classic hosted by Torrey Pines High School in San Diego, California.
Kobe Brown and Daniel Headdings scored 18 points each to lead Wasilla to a 59-47 victory over Douglas of Minden, Nevada, Wednesday in California.
Brown finished with a team-best seven field goals in the game, while Headdings scored eight points from the free throw line. Aeron Milliron hit four three-pointers in the victory, and added 14 points.
With the victory, Wasilla moves forward to play Highland (Arizona) in the consolation semifinals.
Wasilla opened the tournament with a 76-52 loss to Gahr of Cerritos, California. Brown scored 17 in the loss to Gahr. Headdings added a dozen.
Moose win in California
Like Wasilla, the Palmer Moose boys basketball team also rebounded during the second day of a holiday tournament in California.
After suffering a 49-47 loss to Canyon, California, Palmer bounced back to score a 46-40 victory over Golden Valley, California, at the Hart Holiday Classic in San Clarita, California. With the win, the Moose moved on to face Granada Hills Charter of Granada Hills, California.
