Valley divers swept the event during the Bartlett/Chugiak Invitational.
Colony’s Asha Gerteisen finished first in girls diving with 372 total points. Wasilla’s Deshawn Campbell was first in the boys event with 414 points. Valley athletes swept the top four spots in the girls event and top three in the boys class.Wasilla’s Audrey Dietz and Kichelle Frizzelle finished second and fourth overall, and Colony’s Charlie McManus was third.
Wasilla’s Travis Thorton and Palmer’s Craig Elledge were second and third in boys diving.
Colony’s Merica Miller led the Valley with a pair of wins. Miller was first in the girls 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle races. She set a school record with a time of 1 minutes,58.29 seconds in the 200 freestyle, breaking a mark that was set in 1994.
Hannah Cooper was second for the Colony girls in the 500 freestyle, and Jasmine Anderson finished fourth in the 200 freestyle.
The Colony girls were also fourth in the 200 and second 400 freestyle.
Addie Charton led the Palmer girls with a fourth-place finish in the 50 freestyle and sixth-place finish in the 100 freestyle. Nina Adams was seventh in the 100 breaststroke.
Kaylin Klotunowitch was fifth in the 100 butterfly and seventh in the 100 freestyle to lead the Wasilla girls.
Kristofer Vangorder led the Colony boys with a runner-up finish in the 100 freestyle. Hayden Woodring was third in the 100 freestyle and sixth in the 50 freestyle for the Knights. Isaiah Hulien finished sixth in the 500 freestyle.
Jackson Charton was sixth in the 100 butterfly and eighth in the 200 freestyle to lead the Palmer boys, and London Lee was eighth in the 500 freestyle.
