A handful of local flag football players were recognized by the Railbelt Conference recently.
Wasilla’s Savannah Kroon was named the Railbelt Conference Player of the Year. Kroon helped lead her team to first place in conference during the regular season, second in the Railbelt Championships and third in the ASAA state meet. The Warriors finished 2-1 in state, and recorded their first state tourney wins in school history.
Kroon’s teammates — Claire Bredberg, Danielle Steiner and Katie Jackson — were also named first-team all-conference.
Colony’s Bri Parrent, Jalina Fryer and Ella Richardson were also named to the first team. The trio helped Colony finish third in the conference tourney at fourth at state. The Knights also were 2-1 in the state tournament, and earned their first state tourney wins in school history.
Palmer’s Jay Jorgensen and Lizzie McQuillen, and Redington’s Kaydence Seymore and Carsyn Nunley were all named to the second team.
