The Redington and Houston football programs swept the major awards in the Mid-Alaska Conference.
Redington’s Jaden Spaulding was named the conference’s offensive player of the year, and his teammate Mason Brouillet earned lineman of the year honors. Huskies mentor Mathias Weinberger was named coach of the year.,
Houston lineman Kiderro Fono was named defensive player of the year. Hawks defensive coordinator Dave Reilly was named assistant coach of the year.
The Valley rivals, who met in the state championship game, combined to place 16 different players on the all-conference teams. Redington topped Houston 46-12 in the ASAA Division III title game earlier this month.
Spaulding was also named first-team all-conference at running back and return specialist. Brouillet garnered first-team honors at offensive guard and defensive line. Sam MacDonald also was named to the first team on both the offensive and defensive line.
Redington’s Wayde Bowman (quarterback), Logan Seymore (wide receiver), Bryce Murdock (wide receiver) and Dallas Mattson (utility) were also named to the first team.
Mattson (kicker and punter), Trevor Bowman (wide receiver), Wyatt Pinard (linebacker) and Pomai Vargas (linebacker) were named to the second team.
Fono and Keldin Nicol received first-team honors for Houston on both sides of the ball. Fono was named to the first team on the offensive and defensive lines. Nicol was named first team at tight end and linebacker. Houston’s Siu Sasiu (offensive guard), Branden Hina (linebacker) and Eric Preboski (defensive back) were also named first-team. Hina (fullback) and Cody Wyrick (defensive back) were named to the second team.
Palmer senior Elijah Barnes led Valley players on the Division II All-Northern Lights Conference teams. Barnes was named first team at wide receiver, defensive back and return specialist. Cal Tipton (offensive tackle), Parker Glastetter (offensive guard) and Hayden Buckley (defensive line) were also named to the first team for Palmer. Glastetter (defensive line), Isaiah Perkins (running back and defensive back), Lucas Frank (fullback and linebacker), Gavin O’Brien (tight end) and Norman Godfrey (kicker) earned second-team honors.
Dylan Jeffus (wide receiver), Jadon Sheveland (kicker), Tim Grisso (defensive back) and Payson White (defensive line) earned first-team All-NLC honors for Wasilla. White (offensive tackle), Liam Brown (offensive guard), Liam Hays (defensive line), Jacob Mahoney (quarterback) and Jaidas Huffman (defensive back) were named to the second team for the Warriors.
The Colony Knights placed three players on both offense and defense on the first-team Division I All-Cook Inlet Conference lists. That group included Tanner Thornhill (running back and linebacker), Spencer Lagg (tight end and defensive end) and Jayce Underwood (wide receiver and defensive back). Daniel Van Slyke (offensive line) and Jack Nash (defensive back) also earned first-team honors.
Xander Freeman (linebacker), Colton Haise (defensive back), Steven Lanners (defensive back), Andrew Morgan (defensive end) and Harvey Pullen (quarterback) were named to the second team.
