Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Valley players and coaches earned major all-state honors following the 2023 prep football season.
Colony’s Jack Nash was named the Division I Defensive Player of the Year and Co-Offensive Player of the year. Knights mentor Robbie Nash was named the DI Coach of the Year. Colony won its first state football championship in school history with a 14-7 win over Juneau in October.
Houston’s Keldin Nicoll earned Division III Defensive Player of the Year Honors. Houston’s Josiah Bowman was named Co-Lineman of the Year. Hawks co-head coaches Jared Barrett and Charles Whittington were named the Division III Coaches of the Year. The Hawks finished as the Division III runner-up.
In Division I, Colony’s Cody Peterson was selected as the top kicker and punter, and Jayce Underwood was the top kick returner.
Jack Nash (quarterback and defensive back), Underwood (wide receiver and defensive back), Cole Hamilton (tight end and inside linebacker) and Reese Rodriquez (defensive end) were named first-team all-state for the Knights.
Trevor Jamison (wide receiver) and Bryce Guzman (defensive back) earned second-team honors.
Nicoll (tight end and defensive line), Bowman (center and defensive line), Mark Kudryn (running back, linebacker, kicker and punter), Joseph Ahumada (offensive tackle), Parker Bethel (linebacker), Trenton Hawes (linebacker) and Brandon Hina (linebacker and return specialist) were all named Division III first-team all-state.
Redington’s Bryce Murdock (wide receiver and defensive back) and Wyatt Milnes (long snapper and utility player) were also named to the first team.
Houston’s Hayden Howard (wide receiver and defensive back) and Noah Whitted (defensive back) were named to the second team.
Redington’s Trevor Lawrence (running back), Sean Todd (offensive tackle), Richard Bernal (center), Zach Martel (defensive line), Brody Mocan (linebacker), Wyatt Pinard (linebacker) and Hayden Kearney (punter) also earned second-team honors.
At the Division II level, Wasilla’s Jaidas Huffman (quarterback), Max Larson (tight end), Tim Grisso (wide receiver and defensive back) and Eric Kolomeychuk (defensive line) earned first-team honors.
Palmer’s Parker Glastetter (offensive line) and Kayson Asay (linebacker) were named to the second team.
