Valley football players earn all-state honors

Valley players received all-state and all-conference honors in all three divisions of Alaska football following the 2023 prep season.

Five Colony Knights were named first-team all-state for Division I. Senior Trevor Hass (offensive line), senior Nolan Gallagher (defensive line), senior Reese Rodriquez (defensive line), seniors Bryce Guzman (linebacker) and senior Jack Nash (defensive back) all earned first-team honors. Nash (quarterback), senior Trevor Jamison (wide receiver), senior Jack Goss (offensive line), senior Ben Holladay (offensive line) and senior Quilan Maehl (linebacker) were named to the second team.

Junior Johnny Figgins swept the kicking awards, and was named both the kicker and punter of the year.

Figgins, Guzman, Rodriquez, Maehl, Jamison, Gallagher, Holladay, Hass, Goss and Nash were all named first-team All-Cook Inlet Conference.

Junior Eli Whitworth (defensive line), junior Ridge Spencer (wide receiver), freshman Marley Fakatouma (quarterback), senior Aidan Maad (linebacker), sophomore Keoni Pili (fullback) and senior Ethan McNulty (offensive line) were named to the second team.

Wasilla senior Isaiah Smith and junior Grayson McDowell led Valley players on the Division II list. Smith (defensive back) and McDowell (utility player) were named to the first team.

A handful of Palmer and Wasilla were named second-team all-state at the Division II level.

Junior KJ Henry (running back and defensive back) and sophomore Reed Craner (wide receiver) represented Palmer on the second team, and senior Sam Moose (offensive line) and senior Liam Brown (defensive line) were named second-team for the Warriors.

Palmer and Wasilla players were also named all-conference.

Henry and Craner were named first-team all-conference for Palmer, and Smith, McDowell, Moose and Brown were named to the first team for Wasilla.

Craner (defensive back), junior Logan Rolston (wide receiver), senior Carter Paulson (offensive line), senior Cody Van Siegman (defensive line), junior Aiden Donn (offensive line), junior Jacob Gardino (linebacker), sophomore Corbin Gerkin (linebacker and return specialist) and senior Cayen Jorgensen were named second-team for Palmer.

Smith (quarterback), Brown (offensive line), Moose (defensive line), junior Ryan Mikkelsen (defensive line), junior Jimmy Lackey (linebacker), senior Keagan Feezel (linebacker) and senior Tobin Michaud (punter) were named second-team for Wasilla.

Both Houston and Redington placed players on the Division III all-state teams.

Houston’s Noah Whitted was named first-team all-state at running back, defensive back and return specialist. Keldin Nicoll was named to the first team at tight end and defensive line.

Redington wide receiver Doyle Bond and punter Hayden Kearney were also named to the first team.

Houston’s Robert Mitchell (linebacker), Carson Lee (offensive line and defensive line), Gage Hawes (linebacker), Joe Ahumada (offensive line) and Hunter Craig (wide receiver), and Redington’s Justus Spaulding (offensive line) and Ikaia Flores (utility player) were named second-team all-state.
