WASILLA — Sam Loyer pitched a complete game to lead the Valley Post to an 8-2 win over South Friday at McManus squad Friday evening in Wasilla.
Loyer scattered four hits over seven innings, and fanned seven to help the Valley squad score the victory. Logan Sanders led the team at the plate, finishing 4 for 4, with an RBI and two runs scored. Jeffrey Forster doubled and drove in two runs. Buddy Dale also had two RBI. Dalton McHughill singled and scored in the victory.
The Valley team opened with a run in the first to take the early lead, and added four runs in the second.
The Valley squad, a merged team that includes players from Wasilla Post 35 and Palmer Post 15, improved to 3-1.
The team hosts a doubleheader against Delta today in Palmer. The first game is set for noon, with the second match scheduled for 3 p.m.
