As the Valley grows more diverse, one byproduct of that growth is a varied music scene that is steadily growing as well.
Josh Fryfogle, who recently released "No Previous Record," said his goal is a scene in which people are accepted for their talents, and a scene that continues to develop.
"When you look at a place like Nashville, that whole scene started because of a small group of people working together to make it a scene," Fryfogle said. "The people in Nashville kept telling everyone about Nashville, and now it is synonymous with music."
While Wasilla isn't exactly Nashville, Fryfogle said the opportunity for a well-known music scene is here.
"I want to be a part of the scene that makes the public aware of the creative talents of people in this community," Fryfogle said. "In Mississippi, I realized that if you didn't play country, you were out of luck. Here, there is really an open-jam atmosphere and we need to grow that.
"Of course, you want to make money, but you don't have to hurt another person to be successful," he said. "If you can get musicians working together to better each other, everyone succeeds."
Fryfogle said Alaska as a state has plenty to offer. "It seems like everyone has come here to start over with their lives," he said. "It's a fresh start for everyone."
