MAT-SU — Two Mat-Su Borough School District music students earned first-chair honors at the 2010 ASAA/First National Bank All-State Music Festival in Anchorage last weekend.

Colony High School’s Kelly Moran was named first-chair All-State Band for the English horn section. Palmer High School’s Heather Bachelder was named first-chair soprano 1 for the All-State Treble Choir.
The first-chair performers were joined by a host of other all-state band and choir selections from Valley schools.

About 65 percent of all-state orchestra audition CDs were accepted and about 50 percent of students who auditioned for all-state band made the cut.
