Valley Post 35/15 players named first-team all-state

WASILLA — A handful of local players have been named all-state by Alaska Legion Baseball.

Starting pitcher Dalton McHugill, catcher Jeffrey Forster and outfielder Buddy Dale, all members of the combined Valley Post 35/15 were named first-team on the Alaska Legion Baseball Team of Excellence. Logan Sanders, a utility player, was named honorable mention.

Valley Post 35/15 finished 1-2 in the state tournament. The team that included players from Wasilla Post 35 and Palmer Post 15 opened with a 3-0 win over Dimond, but suffered a 7-3 loss to Chugiak in the winner’s bracket. Kenai beat Valley 35/15 6-3 in an elimination game.
