WASILLA — Dimond used a pair of three-run innings to score an American Legion baseball win over the Valley Post Sunday at McManus Field in Wasilla.
First-place Dimond (7-2) scored three times in both the first and fifth innings of the contest. Dimond’s second batch of runs came after Wasilla cut the score to 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth.
Buddy Dale led the Valley team with a pair of hits in the loss. Brendan Jakeimiec and Sam Loyer also had hits.
The Valley Post (5-2) now looks ahead to the annual Todd Ryan Memorial, which starts Thursday at McManus Field. The tourney features a pair of Alaska teams, Valley and Bartlett. There are also squads from Texas, California and Ohio.
