The 2011 Mrs. Alaska-America Pageant crowned its winner Feb. 12 at the Wendy Williamson Auditorium on the UAA Campus.
After a three-hour competition, the ultimate prize and title of Mrs. Alaska America 2011 went to Sarah Smith Dickson. She will represent Alaska at the 35th annual celebration of Mrs. America starting March 31 in White Sulpher Springs, W.V., at the Greenbrier Resort, which will be telecast over Mother’s Day weekend.
First runner up was Amy Marshall of Delta Junction and the second runner up was Joanna Gray of Wasilla.
Gray finished the evening with several awards, including Business Woman of the Year, Creative Sportswear, Best Evening Gown and Opening Number Creative Wear.
Other Mat-Su Valley competitiors honored were Marlene Stephens of Palmer for Most Ticket Sales; Holly Hammer of Wasilla for Community Service; Heather Jones of Wasilla for Contestant’s Choice; and Marlene Stephens of Palmer for Ambassador of the Year and the People’s Choice Award.
