Valley seniors lead all-star teams to victories

ANCHORAGE — Colony’s Damien Fulp poured in a game-high 17 points to lead the Gold team to a 102-95 win over the Blue team during the Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches Senior All-Star Games Friday at Anchorage Christian School.

Fulp, a two-time Northern Lights Conference Player of the Year, shot 50 percent from the field and hit a three-pointer in the victory. Fulp, a first-team all-state selection, also finished with five rebounds and three steals. Palmer senior Adam Ramoth chipped six points for the Gold team.

All 24 players featured in the game scored at least two points. Anchorage Christian School’s Immanuel Lopez also scored 17 for the Gold team. West Valley’s Travon Brackett scored 17 to lead the Blue team. Service’s Ihro Raguindin added 14 for the Blue team. Anchorage Christian’s Nate Simmers led all players with 14 rebounds.

Wasilla senior Shayla Johnson scored a team-high 14 points to lead team Blue to an 86-84 win over team Gold in the girls’ all-star game. Colony’s Izzy Tweed added seven for team Blue. Wasilla’s Amanda Hutchins scored eight for team Gold. Houston’s Savannah Wells finished with two assists and a steal for team Gold.

Anchorage Christian’s Dallas Dickerson led all scorers with 24 points.

The all-star teams also played Saturday at Palmer High School. Results were unavailable prior to the Frontiersman press time.

The 48 boys and girls who appeared in the games were among nearly 150 players nominated to play in AABC’s annual event. A group of committee members, who remain anonymous, made the final selections from the nominated players.
