A pair of Valley skaters and two head coaches earned top honors from their respective conferences.
Houston freshman Daniel Matveev was named the Railbelt Conference Most Valuable Player. Houston’s Lane Styers was named the Railbelt Coach of the Year.
Matveev, Styers and the Hawks earned the conference title, and also won a Division II state hockey championship.
In the Division I Mid-Alaska Conference, Colony senior Jacob Ross was named the player of the year and Colony head coach Chris Yaskus earned coach of the year honors.
Houston’s Domnin Efimov and Afanasy Efimov joined Matveev on the first-team all-conference list. Palmer’s Jeremy Horacek was also named first-team All-Railbelt Conference.
Houston’s Brody Richard and Anfim Konev, and Palmer’s Bryce Armstrong and Carter Greco were named second-team all-conference.
In addition to Ross, Wasilla’s Jakob Barcelona, Brett Woolcott, Austin Peterson and Roman Holler were named first-team All-Mid-Alaska Conference.
Colony’s Kaylee Norman and Drake Gallagher, and Wasilla’s Evan Koivunen and Sayer Sanders were named second-team all-conference.
