Su Valley girls'

win cross country meet

The Su Valley girls' cross-country running team won the Su Valley Cross Country Invitational Cross Country meet, held Saturday. Houston girls finished fourth in the event behind Grace Christian and ACS.

Su Valley's Melissa Ostermick finished higher than all other runners with a fourth-place finish.

Palmer girl selected

Kerry Weiland of Palmer has been selected to play on the Western Collegiate Hockey Association all-star team this year.

Twenty players were selected from the WCHA to play the U.S. National team in a two-game series in Madison, Wis., and St. Paul, Minn., on Oct. 5 and 6. Weiland is a junior at Wisconsin University.

Coaches needed

Wasilla High School is looking for a girls' cheerleading coach for the upcoming basketball season and a cross-country ski coach.

2002 Klondike 300

The 10th annual running of the Klondike 300 Sled Dog Race will be held Jan. 19-20, 2002.

The race will begin at the Islander Lodge at Big Lake.

The mandatory veterinary exam (or proof of examination), food drop, and position drawing will be held on Jan. 17.

Entry applications will be accepted as of Nov. 1. Entry must be notarized prior to submission.

Early entry fee is $350 plus $30 membership through Dec. 31. Early entry fee is refundable through Dec. 31.

Late entry fee is $450 plus $30 membership.
