Sixteen Valley students were recently selected for inclusion in the National Honor Roll for the 2003 year.
The National Honor Roll recognizes middle school and high school students with at least a "B" average. Of the 2003 inductees, more than 60 percent of the students had "A" averages.
Valley students selected were -- Charles Bahn, Wasilla High School; Daniel Brown, Palmer High School; Ben Clyde, Colony High School; James Frost, Houston High School; Jeanette Gabryszak, Correspondence Study School; Christi Gibson, Wasilla High School; Lindsey Heiserman, Colony High School; Natasha Lee-Gilmore, Palmer High School; Janice Maestas, Cornestone Christian School; Nicole Mason, Palmer High School; Deborah McKee, Colony Middle School; Garion Pelletier, Wasilla High School; Jennifer Sorensen, Palmer High School; Tisha Traut, Palmer High School; and Stephaie Wisthoff, Valley Pathways High School.
TONY D'AMICO, of Palmer, recently graduated from Boise State University with a bachelor's degree in history.
D'Amico received his diploma on Dec. 19, 2003. He also wrestles at the university.
JESSICA ALDERMAN, a freshman from Wasilla, and CALVIN CULVERWELL, a sophomore from Wasilla, were part of the Barton County Community College cheer and dance team that placed fourth in the prerankings of the Junior College Cheer Division of the National Dance Alliance/National Cheer Association's national competition, which will be held in April in Daytona Beach, Fla.
SANDRA BREWER was recently named to the dean's honor roll at Eastern New Mexico University. She had to earn a grade-point average of at least 3.25 to qualify.
Brewer is a Colony High School graduate who is studying anthropology at Eastern New Mexico University.
TYLER JENSEN, of Wasilla, was selected by the Universal Technical Institute to train to become a professional collision repair and refinishing technician. He will study at the Houston, Texas campus.
PAUL BRATTAIN, of Wasilla, was selected by the Universal Technical Institute to train to become a professional automotive technician. He will study at the Phoenix campus.
EMIL NACNAC, of Wasilla, was selected by the University Technical Institute to train to become a professional automotive/diesel technician. He will study at the Phoenix campus.
JAMIE INGHAM, of Wasilla, was named to the dean's list at the University of Idaho for the fall semester. Ingham had to earn a grade-point average of at least 3.30 to qualify.
DEBORAH GRIESMER, of Wasilla, was named to the dean's list at the University of Idaho for the fall semester. Griesmer had to earn a grade-point average of at least 3.30 to qualify.
TEAGAN KROON, of Wasilla, was named to the dean's list at the University of Idaho for the fall semester. Kroon had to earn a grade-point average of at least 3.30 to qualify.
THERESA BORGESON, of Palmer, was named to the dean's list at the University of Idaho for the fall semester. Borgeson had to earn a grade-point average of at least 3.30 to qualify.
SARA SAKIS, of Palmer, was named to the dean's list at the University of Idaho for the fall semester. Sakis had to earn a grade-point average of at least 3.30 to qualify.
DANIEL BELL, of Palmer, was named to the dean's list at the University of Idaho for the fall semester. Bell had to earn a grade-point average of at least 3.30 to qualify.
KELLY QUINN, a Colony High School graduate, was recently named to the honor roll at Central Washington University. She had to earn a grade-point average of at least 3.5 to quaifiy. She is a sophomore at CWU.
PETER TEGELER, a Colony High School graduate, was recently named to the honor roll at Central Washington University. He had to earn a grade-point average of at least 3.5 to quailfy. He is a junior.
