Five Mat-Su Borough School District students in grades seven through 12 earned honors in the 2013-14 Statewide Youth Art and Writing Competition. Winners will be published in the summer issue of F Magazine.
Valley winners are: Colony High junior Emily Levesque won first place for digital art; Lindsey Barbie, Palmer High senior and Yebin Ha, Lathrop High senior tied for first place in the portfolio competition; Wasilla Middle School eighth-grader Natalie Powell won second place in the novel excerpt competition; Mat-Su Central School eighth-grader Heather Johnson won third place in the novel excerpt competition; and Colony High sophomore Annie Kessler won first and third place in the poetry competition.
