Tim Lundt, a science teacher at Mat-Su Career and Technical High School, was selected as one of 10 teachers nationwide to join the Society for Science and the Public Fellows Program in 2010.
Lundt, who often takes his classes outside to see the practical aspects of their work, was cited among the teachers who enable “students to fully explore their intelligence and creativity and apply them to finding solutions for our greatest medical, technological, and environmental challenges,” said the president of the society.
As an example, last month Lundt took students to Point MacKenzie to study moose migration.
With funding from the Intel Corp., Lundt will receive $8,500 for classroom expenses as well as a paid trip to Washington, D.C., to attend the Fellows Institute for five days in July.
Lundt was congratulated on this honor by both Gov. Sean Parnell and U.S. Rep. Don Young.
