Mat-Su Judo recently hosted the 2012 mat-Su Judo Tachi Waza Tournament, drawing 65 competitors from five judo clubs ranging from Talkeetna to Anchorage.
The local club practices 7 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays at Wasilla Middle School, said sensei Howdice Brown Jr. At the Nov. 17 tournament, awards were given in 24 divisions of competition. Tachi waza is a term meaning throw technique.
