The Wasilla Warriors, Colony Knights and host Palmer Moose each finished with a pair of victories during the three-day Stars and Stripes Showdown hockey tournament over the weekend at the MTA Events Center in Palmer.
Houston also competed in the tourney and finished 1-2 in three games.
Host Palmer, a Division II team, capped its weekend with a 4-2 win over Division I Eagle River. Chase Ringler scored twice for the Moose. Kolby Wessel and Ashten Johnson also had a goal. Clayton Conrad led Palmer with two assists. Palmer opened its weekend with a 6-2 victory over Lathrop. Conrad notched the hat trick for the Moose. Ringler, Conall Leonard and Zander Anderson also scored. Levi Goff finished with three assists.
West Valley also edged Palmer 1-0.
Evan Owens used a pair of goals to help Wasilla beat Lathrop 7-2. Elijah Barcelona, Branson Hagel, Easton Styers, Dylan Mead and Gavin Blaylock also scored. Mead added three assists.
Hagel scored twice in a 4-2 win over Kenai. Nicholas Harma and Robert Mikulecky also scored.
North Pole edged Wasilla 2-1. Caleb Moose scored the Warriors goal.
Colony opened its season at the tourney and earned its first win in its first game of the year, a 6-3 victory over Kenai. Tristen Sawyer led the Knights with a hat trick. Charles Willoughby, Thaddeus Gasper and Dean Yeager also scored. Logan Zarones had three assists.
The Knights also blanked Kodiak 3-0. North Pole beat Colony 7-0.
Division II Houston also opened its season with a victory, beating Division I Eagle River 3-2. The Hawks scored twice in the second period.
In other action, Soldotna beat Houston 5-3 and West Valley scored a 5-2 win over the Hawks.
