WASILLA — Battling some of the top volleyball teams in the state, the Wasilla Warriors posted a fourth-place finish in the gold bracket of the Service-Dimond Invitational Saturday in Anchorage.
The Warriors finished 2-2 in gold bracket play. Wasilla opened with a 2-1 (20-28, 17-25, 15-11) victory over West Valley in the quarterfinals. After a 2-0 loss to East Anchorage, Wasilla bounced back with a 2-1 (22-25, 25-22, 15-5) win over Chugiak. South Anchorage edged Wasilla 2-1 (22-25, 25-23, 15-11) in consolation action of the bracket to eliminate the Warriors.
Olivia Vincent and Andraia Bella were named all-tournament for Wasilla, which finished 7-1 in pool play Friday.
Colony won the tournament’s silver bracket on Saturday. The Knights opened with a 2-0 (25-14, 25-14) win over North Pole in the quarterfinals, beat Ketchikan 2-0 (25-11, 25-18) in the semifinals and finished the tourney with a 2-1 (25-14, 25-27, 15-6) victory over Northern Lights Conference rival Kodiak in the final.
The Knights finished 5-3 in pool play.
