WASILLA — The Colony Knights will play for the maroon bracket title during the final day of the 2019 Lady Lynx Shootout at Dimond High School.
Colony beat South Anchorage 53-38 in the maroon class, one of two brackets in the 16-team tournament hosted by the defending state champion Lynx. Tori Schwantes scored a team-high 16 for the Knights, who opened the game on an 18-6 run. Hannah Duguid and Kali Bull each hit a pair of three-pointers. Duguid added 10 points, Indiya Clarke chipped in nine and Bull finished with eight.
The Knights will play Lathrop for the maroon title Saturday at 2 p.m.
Wasilla and Palmer used wins Friday to move into the fourth-place games in their respective brackets.
Wasilla edged West Anchorage in the consolation semifinals of the gold bracket. Cheyenne Green scored six of her team’s eight points in the fourth quarter, and led Wasilla with 10. Harmony McSorley added nine, and Bella Hayes finished with eight.
Wasilla will play West Valley Saturday at 10 a.m.
Palmer scored a 38-35 win over Ketchikan in the maroon consolation semifinals. Ellyse Russell and Abriana Busbey scored 11 each for the Moose. Palmer allowed only 10 total points in the second half.
Palmer will play Juneau-Douglas Saturday at 1 p.m.
Day 2 of Lynx tourney
Colony was the lone Valley team to score a victory on the second day of the Lynx tourney, beating Juneau-Douglas 57-40 in the maroon quarterfinals. Schwantes and Abby Kenley scored 11 points each. Bull and Duguid finished with eight each.
Lathrop beat Palmer 39-36 in the maroon quarterfinals. Busbey finished with 13. Avery Pettingill had eight.
In the gold bracket quarters, Anchorage Christian School topped Wasilla 66-35. Diondra Lawhead scored eight for Wasilla.
