PALMER — A pair of Valley volleyball programs hosted a two-match Northern Lights Conference series over the weekend, and both were swept.
Kodiak edged Colony 3-2 (22-25, 24-26, 25-8, 25-22, 15-13) Saturday. Isabel List led the Knights with 16 kills and 20 assists. Madi Wakaliuk added 19 digs and four aces. Nai’a Rigdon chipped in 12 digs and 22 assists.
The Bears also scored a 3-2 win Friday, beating the Knights 26-24, 25-15, 24-26, 16-25, 15-11). List and Rigdon collected 18 assists each. Sam Bryant led the Knights with six aces.
The Knights did bounce back with a 3-0 )25-8, 25-15, 25-8) win over Anchorage Christian School Tuesday.
Soldotna also beat Palmer twice. The Stars scored a 3-1 (25-15, 24-26, 36-34, 25-20) win over the Moose Saturday afternoon. Kristen Beames led Palmer with 17 kills. Kelsey Giese had 17 digs, 17 assists and six kills. Courtney Bernowski finished with 21 digs and 17 assists.
Friday, SoHi needed five games to beat Palmer, winning 3-2 (25-18, 18-25, 21-25, 30-28, 15-3). Beames had 18 kills. Meagen Grogan finished with 20 digs. Giese added 18 digs.
Kards edge Houston
The Houston Hawks were edged by their newest conference rival.
Kenai Central, a newcomer to the Division II Southcentral Conference, slipped past Houston 3-2 (23-25, 25-15, 25-21, 18-25, 15-13) Saturday at Houston High School.
It was Kenai’s second straight win in the Valley. The Kards swept Redington 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-10) Friday.
Seward also swept both Houston and Redington over the weekend.
