Four Valley grapplers earned individual titles during the Lancer Smith Memorial wrestling tournament Saturday at the Menard Center in Wasilla.
Colony’s Asher Clayton and Elijah Larsen, Wasilla’s Deshawn Campbell and Palmer’s Kael Salisbury all won their weight class.
In the lone all-Valley match in the finals, Clayton pinned Wasilla’s Joseph Spangler in the 119-pound class at the 4:44 mark. Clayton improved to 28-0. Larsen also stayed undefeated with a pin in the finals. Larsen is 22-0 after pinning Soldotna’s Trevor Michael in the 145-pound final.
Clayton and Larsen helped Colony finish fourth overall in the team standings.
Campbell used a takedown in the final moments to edge South Anchorage’s Edgar Guevara 3-2 in the 160-pound final. Campbell improved to 20-0. Wasilla was fifth in the team standings.
Palmer’s Kael Salisbury also finished first. Salisbury beat Soldotna’s Jacob Strausbaugh in the 112-pound final. Palmer was ninth in the team standings.
Colony’s Matthew Mitchell also advanced to the finals at 130 and placed second.
Colony’s Ty Harmon (125) and Nolan Gallagher (215), and Wasilla’s Achillies Alexander (103) and Chase Foss (112) placed third.
Redington’s Mya Campbell (120), Colony’s Bayleigh Harrington (126) and Gia Jones (185) and Palmer’s Noelle Buck (235) advanced to the girls finals and placed second.
