Local teen in National Miss Teen America Pageant

Mariah Lee, 16, has been chosen as the 2015 Miss Alaska Teen America and will represent Alaska in the Miss Teen America National Pageant June 26-28 in Atlanta, Ga.

Miss Teen America is for young women ages 15-17 who are well-rounded, girl-next-door types. The program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise and presentation. Emphasis is put on the importance of developing self-confidence, learning good sportsmanship, and setting and achieving personal goals.

The pageant recognizes the accomplishments of each girl while encouraging her to set goals for her future. Competition includes interview, modeling, photogenic, community service and academic accomplishments.
