A pair of veterans, Yukon Don Tanner and Emerson “Skip” Roberts, were awarded Quilts of Valor at VFW Post 3836 in Talkeetna. Four veterans — John Siller, Craig Wade, Ken Luckett and James Plumley — were awarded Quilts of Valor Aug. 17 at the Mat-Su Veterans Foundation monthly meeting in Wasilla. On Aug. 23, veteran Cajun Bob Thoms was awarded a Quilt of Valor at his home in Wasilla.

The quilts were presented by QOVF members Patty Livingston and Jim Woodley (also a veteran), of the Forget-Me-Not Quilters of Alaska, the QOVF group in the Mat-Su Valley.

Quilts of Valor Foundation is a national organization with 10 Groups in Alaska. The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.
