Members of Chapter 43-1 of the Combat Veterans Association gather for a photo at the Veterans Wall of Honor at the Mat-Su Visitors Center in Palmer Aug. 24. The Combat Vets help maintain the wall and surrounding memorial park. Members raised funds to commission and install a marker at the wall with the group’s name, emblem and the words “Vets Helping Vets.” Chapter Commander John “JT” Tully said it’s an honor for the group to be associated with the care of the veterans memorial. “It’s all about them.”

Members of Chapter 43-1 of the Combat Veterans Association commissioned and installed this marker at the Veterans Wall of Honor at the Mat-Su Visitors Center in Palmer. Combat Vets member Mark Schwulst etched the memorial. He and his family have volunteered to etch the names on the wall for many years, even teaching themselves the craft to do so.
