July 19, 1951 - November 10, 2025 Vicki passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025 at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Gig Harbor Washington surrounded by family. Vicki had courageously battled an infectious lung disease for years before she was taken from us. Vicki was born on July 19, 1951 in Tacoma Washington to Bud and Adele DeWalt. She was raised on the West side of Wollochet Bay, attending Artondale Elementary Goodman Middle School, and graduating from Peninsula High School in 1969. She graduated from Western Washington University and pursued a career in teaching for 35 years. Vicki lived an adventurous life. She moved to the Wasilla-Palmer area of Alaska where she taught school at Palmer Middle School. She was part owner of a charter fishing boat, explored glaciers, fished the major rivers and supported the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill clean-up. Vicki traveled extensively in the British Isles and France with friends. She sold her log home in Alaska and built a retirement home on the family’s Wollochet Bay property. Vicki is survived by four siblings including: Jim DeWalt (wife Karen), Dick DeWalt (wife Sue, deceased), Lane Basnaw (husband Rick) and Karen Tarbet (husband Rick). She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and her lifelong Alaska Family. Remembrances can be made to Gig Harbor Peninsula Fish Food Bank & Community Services or to a charity of your choice.
