Victory Bible Camp gives youngsters a fun-filled summer

What did you do this summer? That same question has been asked for decades. Every year at the beginning of school, students will ask their friends where they went and what they did during summer vacation. Then they will tell of their own exciting adventures. Youngsters who attended Victory Bible Camp will have many exciting tales to tell.

Every story will be slightly different, depending upon which camp the youngster selected. Those who chose Alpine camp lived in cabins overlooking a calm mountain lake and had an opportunity to do some adventurous hiking into the beautiful Talkeetna Mountains. Those who selected TeePee camp lived in authentic Western teepees and learned teamwork and useful crafts and outdoor skills. The youngsters who wanted a taste of the old West chose Horse camp. There they resided in an old western town and learned to take care of horses, tack, and related equipment. In addition they learned riding skills and horsemanship.

Regardless of which camp a youngster selected, there were many opportunities. These included water sports such as trying to stay of the banana boat as it crosses the wake of the ski boat towing it. There were also water skiing and swimming. Other activities include crafts, archery and basic marksmanship. Riflery is taught by instructors who are certified through the Civilian Marksmanship Program. They use BB guns, air rifles and .22-caliber rifles. Students are taught safety and basic shooting skills.

Victory Bible Camp youngsters are bound to return to school this fall just full of exciting stories to relay to their friends.

Likewise, camp counselors will return to their homes ready to share their escapades.
