I am privileged to be a community board member for MatSu Health Services, our area’s Community Health Center. I know from personal experience and my over six years being associated with the caring professionals and providers at our health center, that it’s still subject to misperception and unnecessarily, usually overlooked for medical care availability when comments are made about a lack of affordable medical care available in our community.
The week just past has been celebrating National Health Center Week….and I’d like to make you aware of the services available to anyone in our community…and invite you to visit the Mat-Su Health Services campus and see for yourself the opportunities for affordable primary medical care, behavioral health care, and now Dental care.
Our local Community Health Center is part of a national network that is the family doctor to more than 27 million Americans. Health centers are a program with longtime bipartisan support and thus receive Federal and State funding assistance, but their focus is local. Services are available to anyone….regardless of income. You are welcome whether your covered by insurance, Medicaid, or Medicare…or not. Or, if you’re a senior needing to find a new primary care provider, check us out. If you’re new to the area, or a veteran, check us out. You’ll find our medical doctor and dentist providers, nurses, fully trained specialist and counselors to be welcoming and concerned about your overall health factors…not just your immediate symptom. I assure you from the personal care I myself receive at our Community Health Center that they form a complete team of professionals to provide compassionate and quality care.
So, in summary, whether you are a veteran, a senior, unemployed, or insured or not, you can get affordable care when you walk through the doors. No one has to say they cannot obtain medical care in our community. Discounted fees are offered based on family size and income and individual circumstances. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, with early morning and some evening appointments possible. And, we currently constructing a Big Lake branch medical care facility which will open late this fall/early winter. Come visit us at 1363 West Spruce Avenue, Wasilla.
