Volcano, snow storm can't keep Avs out of Wenatchee

The first puck of their first-round playoff series with the Wenatchee Wild doesn’t drop until 6:05 p.m. AST on Friday, but the Alaska Avalanche can call themselves victorious for simply making it to Wenatchee, Wash., this week.

Not only were the Avs’ travel plans at the mercy of Mount Redoubt, but the Wasilla-based North American Hockey League squad had to travel about three hours through a snow storm from the Sea-Tac Airport to Wenatchee, which is located in central Washington.

I guess it’s fitting that a team from Alaska called the Avalanche had to brave a snow storm to get to the rink.

I am sure the team was greeted with, “thanks for coming, but you could have left the snow in Alaska," which of course is the quickest way to irritate someone from Alaska.
