Volunteers needed to help with Iditarod XLIII

WASILLA — Two volunteer organizational meetings are planned in preparation for the 2015 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, which begins at 10 a.m., Mar. 7 at the 4th Avenue and D Street in Anchorage.

The first meeting is at 7 p.m., Jan. 13 at the Millennium Alaskan Hotel, 4800 Spenard Rd., Anchorage. The second is at 2 p.m., Jan. 17 at the Iditarod Headquarters, Mile 2.2, Knik-Goose Bay Road.

Come learn about volunteer opportunities, including the Anchorage and Willow starts, communications, sorting dog and people food, phone room, sales and the Junior Iditarod.

Volunteer coordinators will be on hand to answer questions and 2015 volunteer shirts will be for sale.
