According to the recent report of the nonpartisan Legislative Research Services, Gov. Sean Parnell’s decision not to expand Medicaid to 40,000 Alaskans is going to cost us dearly: more illness, shorter lives, “scores of deaths,” less benefits for health care providers, thousands of jobs with more than $200 million in wages won’t be created while we turn our backs on up to $2.9 billion in federal funding.
It would appear that our governor, besides being fiscally irresponsible, has becoming a walking “death panel.” The good news is that in November we’ll be able to vote for Byron Mallott, a lifelong Alaskan of proven experience and integrity who cares more about the Alaskan people than throwing money at the oil companies who are already enjoying record profits.
If Parnell likes mindless, Republican obstructionism so much, perhaps he should run for U.S. Congress.
