You have heard it before from a variety of sources, but I believe, if you are a firearms owner and a hunter, that the 2020 elections are the most important in American history when it comes to our rights and liberties as Americans. From the candidates to the ballot initiatives, the choices are clear. You can support American traditions vital to our freedoms as individuals, or you can support strengthening the growing movement toward a socialist state stripping us of those freedoms.
Ballot Measure 2 is part of that socialist agenda based on the fact that folks who have been supporting this initiative are the same people who consistently support socialist leaning candidates, and get this, their campaign is financed with dark money. Apparently, if you support agendas like stripping Americans of their Second Amendment rights it is okay to use dark money.
The right to vote, like the right to keep and bear arms, are sacred aspects of America’s tradition of measuring liberty through the recognition of individual rights. Ranked choice voting not only guarantees mediocre leadership, it violates our right as Americans to associate with likeminded people in the election process.
I’ve been involved in politics as an advocate for hunting based conservation and the Second Amendment for over 40 years. I am a past president of several sportsmen’s groups, spent time as the NRA Field Rep for Alaska, and served four years as chair of the government affairs committee for Safari Club International. Based on my experiences over many years in Juneau and Washington D.C. and the language of Ballot Measure 2, I am voting no on 2, as it is my view after careful scrutiny that this initiative probably won’t solve the issues the sponsors say it will, and has the potential to do serious harm to our freedoms down the road.
